Whatever it is, we need to trust Him to be whatever He needs to be in the season we are in.

Exodus 16:1-7

1 The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had come out of Egypt. In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”

So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “In the evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?”


First time we hear Jehovah Jireh, it when Abraham named the place where God asked him to sacrifice Isaac, and then provided the ram for the sacrifice (Genesis 22:14).

We gain to see of God as we develop a relationship with him. You can know God as many things. There are many names for God in the bible.

Layers — God reveals himself to His people in layers because he is never ending. He is the I AM WHO I AM.

Whatever it is, we need to trust Him to be whatever He needs to be in the season we are in.

In the bible, we see God reintroduce Himself to his people. God was providing for His people in the wilderness the whole time. He’s been Jehovah Jireh since Abraham’s time.

Knowing God as “provider” is the next level of the relationship. One that is not based on what you’ve heard about God. It’s a level based on going through life with God. Abraham can say “God provides” because he experienced it.

That’s where Israel is in this passage.

Just because God reveals Himself in different ways, doesn’t mean He changes. The bible says He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever more.

God doesn’t change, but the way we view Him based on the experiences we have with Him does.

If it’s not a God thing, are you willing to go through that because you’re thirsty? Or will you wait on God for fresh water. 

Learn in whatever state you’re in to be content.


Phillipans 4:11-14

11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

14 Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.

Father God, I come before You in the name of Jesus. I thank You for your son who died on the cross for me. I come before You as a sinner in need of salvation. I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried for three days and rose again so that I would have eternal life. I believe in Jesus and confess Him as my Lord and Savior. I turn away from my sin and I am not going back. Thank you, Father, for what you’ve done for me through Your son, Jesus.
